The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Study Center conducts multidisciplinary research on economic and business trends in the Asia-Pacific, in particular, topics related to the APEC forum. The center is hosted by the Asia Global Institute as a five-year project, from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2027.
The center draws expertise from scholars and professionals from the fields of international economics, political economy, and industrial organization to promote and foster collaborative research on three themes.
To examine the opportunities and challenges of international trade digitalization for both domestic and cross-border trade and policy changes to improve connectivity, digital economy, and the development of SMEs in APEC member economies.
To examine how companies' sustainability considerations in production and supply-chain management will affect their behavior and performance, which in turn shape macroeconomic outcomes.
To highlight the importance of Hong Kong’s strength in the professional services sector and its unique institutions that facilitate regional economic integration.
