As trade barriers go up in the West, the rest are ‘reglobalising’

The West is dismantling the free trade order it created and propounded, even as the rest of the world pushes for more trade and opening up

Andrew Sheng, Distinguished Fellow of Asia Global Institute discussed the current state of global trade and the contrasting approaches taken by the West and the rest of the world in SCMP. He argues that trade will emerge profoundly different, more complex and diffused. While the West turns inward, the rest of the world continues to believe in the benefits of open trade.
