On October 10, 2019, Zhiwu Chen was invited to speak at Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of Renmin University of China, using the tale of Sun Yat-sen and Yuan Shikai to explain the importance of finance on national defence, war finance, and nation-building. In his talk, Zhiwu Chen also explained, in detail, why national debt alone does not give the full picture of a country’s strength or its future prospects.
