About Wallace Yu

Wallace Yu is currently the President of the Fin Society of Hong Kong. Wallace has over 20 years of experience in international finance and served as the head of global public markets of Junson Capital, a global multi-asset investment company. He is the former head of multi-asset group at China Investment Corporation (CIC), the sovereign wealth fund of China based in Beijing, where he oversaw a multi-billion portfolio in internal and external programs. Prior to his time at CIC since 2009, he held quantitative research and trading positions at Morgan Stanley and Deutsche Bank, both based in London, and Citadel Investment Group based in Hong Kong.

Wallace is a Mainland Opportunities Committee Member with the Hong Kong Financial Services Development Council, a Committee Member with the Beijing Youth Federation, a Council Member with the Hong Kong Professionals (Beijing) Association, the One Country Two Systems Youth Forum, and an academic adviser to China Insurance News.

Wallace has been an invited speaker, in China and overseas, at numerous conferences organized by regulators, universities and large asset owners on global investing. He is the lead author of the Chinese book “Exploring the Frontier in Asset Management” (2018), a pioneer in its field. On the lighter side, his personal story in transforming as a Hong Kong native from a London investment banker to a Beijing government fund manager has been portrayed in various leading media channels in China as a global mindset example.

He holds a master’s degree with Distinction in Mathematics and Finance from Imperial College London, under the UK Chevening Scholarship, after undergraduate studies at The University of Hong Kong (2000). He holds the CFA and FRM designations.

His research examined some economic aspects of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area development.
