About Taeyoung Kim

Taeyoung Kim has been working in Myanmar since 2016 with Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders, as HR Operation Referent for Emergency Mission.

After growing up in South Korea, Taeyoung has studied and worked in the past 20 plus years in Canada, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, South Africa, Eswatini, South Sudan, Mozambique, and Myanmar. His areas of work include providing infrastructural development assistance and running medical programme to alleviate the suffering of the sick.

From being an ICT volunteer in Bhutan in 2006, Taeyoung has built his career to managerial positions in the field where the needs are. Going forward, he would like to take the lessons learned from field experience back to South Korea to engage himself in the development of humanitarian aid and international development cooperation policies, thus bringing more impact for both implementers in the field and the beneficiaries.

His research as an AsiaGlobal Fellow analyzed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, in collaboration with the MSF Hong Kong office, the government, and other actors in this area.
