About Stjepan Mandic

Stjepan Mandic is Risk Management Advisor of the United Nations Office for Project Services and also a Member of Securities and Markets Stakeholders Group of the European Securities and Markets Authority. 

Stjepan is a seasoned financial executive, entrepreneur and consultant with over 15 years of experience in banking, private equity and development finance. He has spent most of his career in retail and commercial banking, where he held various positions, including C-level roles in treasury and investment banking operations. Currently, he acts as an advisor to the European Commission’s flagship innovation programs and is also an entrepreneur running a management consulting business for international companies, public entities and private equity funds with CEE exposure. He also supports the World Bank on assignments related to competitiveness reinforcement and digital innovation. Stjepan also sits on several supervisory and advisory boards, including Allianz ZB, and the Securities and Markets Stakeholders Group (SMSG) under the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). 

Stjepan holds a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Zagreb and master’s degree in finance from the University of Cambridge, where he was a recipient of the United Kingdom FCO’s Chevening scholarship. He is also a Harvard Kennedy School of Government Luksic Abaroa Fellow and a holder of CFA and FRM designations. 

His research as an AsiaGlobal Fellow will focus on the different approaches of Asian countries to innovation policies, in particular, China’s innovation infrastructure and regulatory framework for fintech verticals.
