About Sanja Arežina

Sanja Arežina is a counselor with the Government of the Republic of Serbia. She performs political analysis and provides policy advice to the president and prime minister, coordinates and liaises with different stakeholders, and builds support for critical issues.

Sanja got her PhD in political science at the University of Belgrade and she holds a scientific rank of senior research associate-associate professor there. She has been a member of the board of management of Belgrade Strategic Dialogue from 2017 to 2020 which organizes conferences, publishes journals, organizes professional training, and promotes international understanding and cooperation. Sanja is also actively involved in the NGO sector.

Previously, Sanja had worked for the Olympic Committee of Serbia, European Integration Office, World Health Organization, Institute of Public Health of Serbia “Dr Milan Jovanović Batut”, and Serbian Business Registers Agency.

Sanja aspires to be one of the leading persons in the United Nations who will make the UN a more effective and relevant institution.

Her research as an AsiaGlobal Fellow explored the possibilities for a new approach to solving the status of Kosovo* within the Republic of Serbia, learning from the experiences of the Chinese “One Country, Two Systems” policy.
