About Rui Wang

Rui Wang is the China Representative of GlobalGiving, the US’ first and largest global crowdfunding community connecting non-profits, donors, and companies in nearly every country. After helping GlobalGiving register its Shanghai Representative Office, Wang maintains partnerships with corporates, NGOs and government ministries for GlobalGiving in China. Her work engages the government, charitable organizations, institutes and the private sector to research, advocate and advise on China’s philanthropic sector.

Prior to this, Rui worked at the Chi Heng Foundation for three years, helping AIDs impacted children and their families in rural China. Before devoting herself to the development field, Wang worked in hospitality consulting for many years.

Rui holds a bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management from Lanzhou University and an MBA in Hospitality from ESSEC of France.

Her research as an AsiaGlobal Fellow focused on the subject, “Impact of the Internet philanthropy ecosystem on Chinese philanthropy”, which aims to scan the development context of Internet philanthropy in China, explores the Chinese Internet philanthropy ecosystem, and ultimately conceptualizes the Chinese Internet philanthropy ecosystem as well as measure its impact on Chinese philanthropy.
