In addition to his role at Microsoft, Gary Chan is the Chairperson of the Free Community Church, Singapore, and Director, Amplify Conference, Singapore. From 2015 to 2017, he was head of retail services and partner marketing for Asia Pacific at Microsoft Consumer & Device Sales group. For eight years prior to that, he was head of consumer marketing and developer experience for Pan Asia at Nokia and Microsoft Mobile Device Sales. From 2004 to 2007 he worked as product manager for 3G services at StarHub and before that he was Director and CTO at Dreamtap Holdings involved in five B2B Internet startups (1998-2004). In 2003 he co-founded and has been Chairperson since, of the Free Community Church, Singapore. In 2009, he co-founded and became Director of Amplify Conference, a non-profit justice conference and ministry platform. Gary holds a Master’s degree in Theology and Ministry, King’s College London, and a BSc in Business and Information Technology, University of Westminster (U.K.) .

His research was on the impact that corporate social responsibility (CSR) and diversity and inclusion (D&I) initiatives have had on businesses and will also question the dichotomy between spirituality and secular business by applying Christian theology and using the transformation that businesses like Microsoft are undergoing as a case study.
