About Peter Tung Shun Wong

Peter Wong Tung Shun is Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Asia-Pacific of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. He is a Group Managing Director and a member of the Group Management Board of the HSBC Group. 

Mr Wong sits on the board of a number of other entities within the HSBC Group, including Chairman and Non-executive Director of HSBC Bank (China) Company Limited, Non-executive Director of Hang Seng Bank Limited and Director of Serai Limited (HSBC's digital trading proposition for SMEs).


Mr Wong joined HSBC in 2005. From April 2005 to January 2010, he was Group General Manager and Executive Director, Hong Kong and mainland China of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited before assuming the position of Chief Executive for Asia-Pacific in February 2010. He became Deputy Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited in May 2013. 


Mr Wong's banking career began in 1980 when he joined Citibank. He then joined Standard Chartered Bank in 1997. 


He was educated at Indiana University in the US and holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, an MBA in Marketing and Finance and an MSc in Computer Science.


Mr Wong serves on a number of government and regulatory bodies as well as industry associations.
