Herbert was once vice president of Alibaba (China) Co. Ltd. and president of Ali Data Committee after he joined in the August of 2010. During his tenure, he led data governance team to make a series of achievements in the field and be elected as China's best IT team in 2014 election of "China's Top CIO'. In addition, he was once elected as "China's top 10 most influential big data entrepreneurs' by State Information Center in 2017. With more than 10 years of rich practical data experience, Herbert Chia has formed unique data-driven thinking and management way and original insight towards future trend of big data.

For last decades, Mr. Chia spent his life in mainland China and Hong Kong. The positions he currently holds include Sequoia Capital China expert partner, chairman of Data Industry Committee of China Smart City Industry Alliance, president of Youedata Research Institute, deputy head of Big Data Working Group of China National Information Technology Standardization Network (2015-2017), Guiyang Big Data Committee adviser and adjunct professor of School of Management of Zhejiang University.
