About Anderson Tanoto

Mr Anderson Tanoto is a Managing Director and a member of the Executive Management Board of RGE - a group of world-class companies in resource-based manufacturing industries operating in Indonesia, China, Brazil and Canada, with over US$20 billion in assets and a workforce of over 60,000 people. He is also a member of the executive committee of Asia Pacific Resources International Limited (APRIL), one of the largest pulp and paper producer in the world.

Mr Tanoto drives RGE's strategic growth initiatives and is closely involved in the group's fibre operations and business transformation activities, specifically providing directions on various sustainability and conservation efforts. Some of these efforts include the Riau Ecosystem Restoration (RER) programme and the Fire-Free Village Programme undertaken by APRIL.

Mr Tanoto was in May 2018 appointed Chairman for the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce & Industry's (KADIN) Brazil Committee and is also its representative to Canada. An emerging business leader, Mr Tanoto has held memberships in the Tropical Forest Alliance 2020's Southeast Asia Regional Committee, Wharton Executive Board for Asia and The World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on Forests (2015 to 2016).

As member of the Board of Trustees of the Tanoto Foundation, Mr. Tanoto has led various Foundation initiatives focused on leadership development and poverty alleviation.

Mr. Tanoto was formerly a consultant at Bain & Company and holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
