Ahead of the annual G20 meeting in Nagoya, Japan, which started on Friday, November 22, Asia Global Institute Adjunct Associate Professor Yoshikazu Kato gives his take on whether China and Japan can forge common ground.

At the top of the two-day event's agenda are free trade and global governance. Those in attendance include representatives from international organizations such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Prominent figures, including Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, are also present. Wang, who is on an official visit to Japan, is expected to stay until Tuesday, and engage in high-level meetings with his Japanese counterpart.
