Abstract

In 2016, widespread public dissatisfaction over immigration and globalization policies fuelled the rise of populism and right-wing nationalism across the West.

Have political circumstances changed for the better since that time? Former Greece Prime Minister George Papandreou was at the helm of the Greek government at the height of the Eurozone crisis. In this edition of Global Thinkers, he discussed the rise of the right in Europe and evaluated the knock-on effect of this trend on Asia.
