Thinley Choden is a social entrepreneur and consultant. She leads a portfolio of initiatives at the nexus of entrepreneurship, gender, climate, education and youth. Her interdisciplinary work spans both private and public sectors locally and internationally.
Thinley is an Echidna Scholar at the Brookings Institution and serves as Bhutan's country advisor for Give2Asia. Additionally, she leads the Centre for Sustainability Studies, a Thimphu-based consultancy. She is also a founding board member of both the Association of Bhutanese Cottage and Small Industries and the Global Shapers Thimphu Hub. In 2008, she established the non-profit Rural Education and Development (READ), Bhutan, part of the READ Global network, which focuses on creating strong, inclusive communities through self-sustaining libraries and resource centers. Currently, she is a board member of READ Bhutan.
Thinley is actively involved in several professional networks, including World Economic Forum, GREEN (Global Response to Education and the Environment Network), Climate Reality, and more.
She holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Beloit College and a master's degree in public administration from the University of Hawaii, Manoa.
Her research as an AsiaGlobal Fellow will focus on creating an impact investment blueprint for Bhutan in policy, strategy and ecosystem.
