About Saule Agatayeva (Kazakhstan)

Saule is a communications and advocacy specialist with over a decade of experience leading high-impact initiatives across Central Asia. Her expertise lies in gender equality, human rights, legal reform, and regional development, where she leverages strategic communication and cross-border collaboration to drive meaningful social change.

In her current role as communications specialist at UN Women, Saule directs external and internal communications for the Central Asian Alliance to End Gender-Based Violence, a regional platform for cooperation aimed at eliminating gender-based violence and harmful practices in Central Asia. She coordinates regional advocacy efforts, mobilizes civil society, and facilitates inclusive policy dialogue addressing gender-based violence. 

Her portfolio includes leading region-wide campaign such as 16 Days of Activism—an annual initiative calling for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and children—and promoting the global HeForShe Central Asia movement to amplify narratives of gender equality.

Saule holds a master’s degree in political science from Central European University.

As an AsiaGlobal Fellow, her research explored the role of media, disinformation, equitable masculinity, and inclusion in combating gender-based violence across Central Asia.
