Rumbidzai Sithole has a keen interest in business-led economic growth and structural transformation in Africa. In her pervious role at Prudential plc, she supported regional business strategy formulation, strategic execution, business planning, commercial partnership development, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) across eight African markets.
Rumbidzai worked in the World Bank’s Africa manufacturing advisory team, as a strategy professional at the largest industrial conglomerate in West Africa (the Dangote Group), and as a strategy consultant focused on economic development. Rumbidzai has also been an entrepreneur.
Rumbidzai was born and raised in Zimbabwe but has lived in key markets across the African continent: South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia, and Liberia. Her career aspiration is to contribute towards accelerating Africa’s structural transformation and the creation of high value jobs for increased prosperity, which will be the focus of her research for the AsiaGlobal Fellows Program.
Rumbidzai holds a master’s degree of public administration in international development from Harvard Kennedy School and an MBA from INSEAD Business School.
Her research as an AsiaGlobal Fellow will explore how to build an effective for-profit greenfield industrial investment vehicle for Africa that utilizes the nimbleness of private equity and the research capacity of development finance institutions to invest in sectors that can unlock growth, using Zambia as a case study.
