About Khen Frenkel

Khen Frenkel is an urban planner with over 15 years of experience in the public sector and expertise in strategic urban and transit planning.

In 2020, Khen joined Israel's National Transportation Authority, where he led the establishment of the Public Transit Planning Department to spearhead the development and implementation for public transit, urban mobility, and net-zero public transportation. He also serves as a government interdisciplinary readiness team member for aging.

Previously, Khen was the regional planning deputy for the Jerusalem metropolitan area within Israel's planning and building administration, where he designed transit-oriented development policies and conducted extensive research on housing capacities.

Khen holds a master's degrees in public policy and urban and regional planning. He is passionate about creating better cities that foster sustainable and inclusive growth.

His research as an AsiaGlobal Fellow will look into China's "Transit Metropolis" initiative, specifically about the role of network governance as a driver of transit-oriented development.
