Juraj Sevella serves in the Office of the President of Slovakia, where he leads the Foreign Affairs Department. He has been in charge of developing political strategies, implementing the foreign affairs priorities of the office and facilitating diplomatic engagement with foreign representatives and multilateral institutions.
Prior to joining the President's team, Juraj amassed over a decade of experience with the EU institutions, focusing mostly on EU external policies and security issues related to EU enlargement and neighbourhood policies, as well as relations with the Indo-Pacific region. His expertise in policy analysis, political communication and public affairs management enabled him to work on different aspects of the EU's policymaking. He has a keen interest in foreign and security policies, EU politics, democratic transition processes, political leadership and good governance.
He holds two master's degrees in political science and international relations from Jagiellonian University in Cracow and Central European University in Budapest. He was a visiting research fellow at University College London and Erasmus University in Rotterdam, where he focused on EU public affairs management.
His research as an AsiaGlobal Fellow will explore EU relations with the Indo-Pacific region.
