Gillian is a healthcare executive at Discovery Health, South Africa, where she leads digital transformation and market disruption strategies within the digital and healthcare services portfolios. She also serves as the executive responsible for Gap Cover, a key health insurance product within the organization’s new markets function. In these roles, she oversees digital ecosystem and innovation management, new business development, and strategic project leadership, supporting Discovery Health’s mission to positively redefine the South African healthcare landscape.

Prior to that, Gillian worked as a strategy and operations consultant with Boston Consulting Group and Kearney South Africa, advising senior executives and government leaders across Africa, the Middle East, and beyond. Her experience spans diverse sectors—including chemicals, mining, energy, agriculture, technology, logistics, and public infrastructure—with a focus on corporate strategy, sustainable and inclusive growth, agricultural resilience, asset optimization, operational excellence, and energy transition. She also contributed to developing digital servicing platforms for investors and financial advisers within South Africa’s asset management industry.

Gillian holds an MBA from INSEAD and a bachelor’s degree in economics with honours in information systems from Rhodes University. 

As an AsiaGlobal Fellow, her research focused on advancing universal health coverage in developing and emerging markets. She explored key success factors in universal health coverage implementation through selected Asian case studies, addressing strategies to balance cost, quality, and access.
