Young South Asian Leaders Initiative, East-West Center
With two decades of experience, Christina Monroe has implemented international exchange and leadership development programs for governments in Asia and the West to promote mutual understanding.
She is currently launching the US’s flagship leadership initiative in South Asia after a decade leading the US’s flagship Southeast Asian leadership program at the East-West Center, an education and research institution. Her success in virtual community building strengthened the Center’s alumni network of 70,000 professionals across 53 chapters in 32 countries. Previously, she directed the University of Colorado Boulder’s integration of service and community engagement across faculties.
She holds a master’s degree from the University of Amsterdam and a certificate in organizational consulting and change leadership from Georgetown University. She was selected by the Australian Government as an Endeavor Professional Fellow and as a Fulbright Specialist by the US Department of State. Her publications on female entrepreneurship in India, public diplomacy and sustainability education can be found in Sage Publications and Cambridge University Press.
As an AsiaGlobal Fellow, her research explored Chinese and American leadership theory and practice. Her findings informed improvements to government- and privately-funded leadership development programs for American and Asian students and professionals.
