Bullyid App, Indonesia
Agita Pasaribu is the founder and executive director of Bullyid App, a pioneering tech-charity dedicated to providing accessible mental health support and access to justice for victims of online gender-based violence through a survivor-centered approach. As of now, Bullyid App has assisted over 220,000 individuals. Agita’s notable career achievements include her instrumental role in transforming the Sexual Violence Bill into law in Indonesia and leading advocacy efforts that have garnered international recognition. Under her leadership, Bullyid App collaborates with the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Children Protection and the National Cybercrime Agency in Indonesia.
Based on her work at Bullyid App, Agita was invited by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) to join the UNESCO Youth AI Ethics Steering Committee. Previously, she was elected as deputy coordinator for Youth IGF Global Movement as part of the UN Internet Governance Forum, where she led more than 35 youth representatives from around the world to develop sustainable digital literacy programs in their communities. In addition to these roles, Agita is an expert member of ITU Children Online Protection. She leverages her expertise in Southeast Asia to address the region’s lack of digital sexual education and assists Indonesian government authorities in tackling online child sexual exploitation issues.
Driven by a passion for social justice and a commitment to leveraging technology for positive change, Agita’s mission is to create inclusive and equitable digital spaces. She holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal law from Universitas Indonesia and a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Malaya.
Her research as an AsiaGlobal Fellow will look into the legal and ethical implications of deepfake technologies.
